Online Learning: Is It as Effective as Traditional Classroom Learning?

By Nithish, Year 6, Perth (Australia)

As a student, have you ever wanted to learn online? Learning online provides students with fewer problems, such as traveling, paperwork, getting introduced to new people in person, and so much more. If you're one of them, question your teacher with these incredible statements about why online learning is better than classroom learning!

First, let’s talk about how online learning decreases travel for students so they don’t waste time and money. Online learning prevents students from wasting their time traveling by bus, car, ship, etc. Like the speed of light, students can attend online learning platforms like Zoom. Students can get a lot of work done in the time they usually spend traveling. Additionally, traveling reduces students' budgets, as they have to pay money to take a ride to school on any vehicle. The money they spend to get to school can be used to buy a whole utensil pack or any other materials that help them work and learn.

Another important point worth considering is that students doing paperwork instead of assessments and covering learning areas online is very unwanted, unpreferred, and out of fashion. Students should have the option to type on a device they prefer rather than doing paperwork and reading essays written in pencil! Students don’t deserve to learn in a style from the 1980s. This is a modern generation; students should learn online!

Astonishingly, some teachers don’t know that students are shy about speaking to others, even if they are new or old students. Students have the right to be shy, but not all the time. This is why, online, they don’t meet in person, which gives them the chance to talk freely to other students. Slowly, they’ll become friends and communicate in real life. Online learning can be very useful for students who are very shy! Soon, all students are going to become brave as lions meeting their companions.

At last, online learning is the key to success for students. In fact, 90% of students prefer online learning. If students don’t have devices, schools can provide them with devices of their choice. Share these reasons with your teacher, and soon you’ll be able to learn online instead of in boring classrooms! Classroom learning is the definition of boredom!
