From Sketch to Reality

By Zeel, Grade 4, Brisbane (Australia)

One day, I was entering the art room when Mrs. Smith said, "Draw what you would find at a soccer field." So, everyone grabbed a pencil from the tub, and so did I. When I started to draw, the pencil bugged me, so I grabbed another. Unlike most people, I didn't have the foggiest idea of what to draw because I don't play soccer.

I drew a teeny tiny soccer ball, and then suddenly, a tiny soccer ball popped into my bag out of nowhere. I was so shocked when I found it. Since I don't like soccer, I decided to throw it at my classmate and act like nothing had happened. When he looked around, I started to draw a huge iPhone. Suddenly, I heard a VERY, VERY loud thud inside my bag. Everybody looked around to see what it was, but I just said, "Maybe someone outside banged the pole."

At the end of the day, I sneaked the pencil into my bag and took it home. I grabbed my notebook and started to draw a Nintendo Switch. Out of nowhere, my little sister hopped into my room and said, "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?" "Uhm, nowhere," I said nervously. Then she went to tell Mum about what I had, and when she found out, she asked, "WHERE DID YOU GET IT?"

I said, "Well, I found this pencil in the tub, and if I draw something, it appears in real life." Mum took the pencil and threw it on the road. At that very moment, a car drove over it, and it was crushed. I stood there in shock. Soon, I forgot about it and told all my friends. And we lived happily ever after.
