Superhero for a Day

By Viraj, Grade 2, Perth (Australia)

One day at school, we went on a Science field trip. When we got there, I got stuck in a massive machine and could see a creepy and poisonous spider coming right toward me. It bit me, and I yelled, "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

I was in a dilemma. I couldn't speak, but I had become a superhero and named myself Lightning Speed. My powers were lightning speed and lightning throw. I tried to think of how to reverse the spell without speaking. Suddenly, I came up with a plan: if I got bitten again, I might be able to talk. So I tried it, and it worked! I could talk again and whispered to myself, “I have a very good secret.”

The secret never got out. The next day, I was running around town to see if there was any trouble. I found a problem: the traffic lights were not working. So I used my lightning throw power to save the day and make the lights work.
